In order for your therapist to be as effective as possible during your session,

  • Inform him/her if you experience pressure that is too deep or too light.  On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being very uncomfortable, the best therapeutic result is derived from a level of pressure that is approximately 6 to 8.  However, some people may feel uncomfortable at a 6.  Be sure to communicate to your therapist any feelings of discomfort during your session.

  • Deeply inhale and exhale periodically throughout your session, or as directed by your therapist.  This will allow you to achieve a state of deeper mental and physical relaxation.

  • Tell your therapist if you find that the music is too loud or too soft, the warming pad used on the table too warm or not warm enough, or if the room temperature is too hot or cold.
